Mézenc and Meygal, two of the largest Nordic skiing areas in Auvergne. Whether you prefer alternative skiing or skating, you will be able to glide around 100km of way-marked, safe and regularly maintained cross-country ski tracks.
The ski resort of Les Estables (lien renvoyant vers l’article Station Village) and the Meygal massif offer together one of the largest nordic skiing areas in the Auvergne. A total of nearly 100km of tracks are completely set aside for cross-country skiing. Two way-marked, secure skiing areas laid out for alternative snow sports and skating are thus available. Enough to delight beginners and experienced skiers.
Not far from the towns of Le Puy-en-Velay (lien renvoyant vers l’article ville du Puy) and Saint-Etienne, between an altitude of 1200m and 1400m, the state-owned forest of Meygal offers a superb decor, an ideal environment where winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy a refreshing break in the heart of nature. Every day, you will find a warm welcome, advice, and ski equipment for hire to suit all levels (from the age of 2 years) at the chalet du Meygal, departure point of the skiing tracks. Come and enjoy the pleasures of snow sports in the Nordic skiing area where you will find nearly 45km of skiing tracks (lien renvoyant vers plan des pistes).
At the foot of the Alambre and the Mézenc, the ski resort of Les Estables offers a nordic skiing area of over 50 km. Tracks through charming woodlands followed by wide open spaces with panoramic views, there is everything you could hope for in the Mézenc !
Just outside or above the village, not far from the Maison Forestière, new skiers can peacefully learn on the short round tour of Chier, 1.5 km. Proficient skiers will appreciate the 13 km of the black piste of Mézenc.
Make a note of the new installation this winter, a biathlon stadium also perfectly designed for learners.
